Normal English vs Business English: Certainty and Planning
At work, people often need to express how sure they are and what they plan to do. Using the right business English helps you sound organized and reliable. In this video, you will learn five professional upgrades. Instead of 'I'll do it later', say 'I'll schedule it for a later time', which shows you are planning, not avoiding the task. Instead of 'let's see what happens', try 'let's monitor the situation', which sounds proactive and responsible. Replace 'I don't think so' with 'I'm not convinced', a polite and confident way to express doubt. Instead of 'I'm sure', say 'I'm confident that', for example: I'm confident that we can meet the deadline. Finally, swap 'I'm not sure' for 'I'm uncertain at this stage', which suggests you need more information before deciding. These phrases are useful in meetings, project updates and emails to managers or clients. They help you communicate clearly about plans and risks without sounding too casual or too negative. Watch the video, repeat each pair, and practice by giving a short project update using at least three of these phrases. Your workplace English will sound more professional immediately.
