Types of Birds in English: Animal Vocabulary
Birds are everywhere, from city streets to tropical lakes, and knowing their names in English helps you talk about nature, travel and animals with more detail. In this video, you will compare the general word 'a bird' with four specific bird names. An 'eagle' is a large, powerful bird of prey with sharp eyes and strong claws. It is a symbol of strength in many countries. Notice we say 'an eagle' because the word starts with a vowel sound. A 'pigeon' is the grey bird you see in almost every city square, often looking for food. A 'peacock' is a colourful bird famous for its long, bright tail feathers that open like a fan. Technically, the male is the peacock and the female is the peahen. A 'flamingo' is a tall pink bird with long legs that often stands on one leg in shallow water. Try using these words in sentences: There are pigeons everywhere in the park. We saw flamingos at the zoo. Watch the video, practice the pronunciation of each name, and start describing the birds you see around you in English.
