Visible vs Audible: Adjectives for Things You Can Sense
In English, you can often replace a long phrase with a single adjective that sounds more natural and advanced. In this short video, you will learn six useful adjectives connected to the senses and other abilities. If it can be seen, it is visible. For example, The mountains are visible from my window. If it can be heard, it is audible. For example, Her voice was barely audible. If it can be smelled, and the smell is pleasant, it is fragrant, like fragrant flowers or fragrant tea. If it can be touched, it is tangible, a word also used for real, concrete results, like tangible progress. If it can be felt, it is perceptible, meaning it is possible to notice. And if it can be healed, it is curable, often used for medical conditions. Many of these words end in ible or able, which often means can be. This pattern will help you understand new words in the future. These adjectives are very useful in essays, exams, reports and formal writing. Watch the video, repeat each word and try writing your own sentence for each one. Your English vocabulary will sound richer and more precise.
